Agilent 6890N GC and Agilent 5973 Inert MSD with a Gerstel MPS and TDS

Model: 6890N GC and 5973 MSD

Facility: Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

Function: The 8690N-5973 MSD is a gas chromatograph with a quadrupole mass spectrometer using electron ionization. The multipurpose sampler allows for automated sample preparation and introduction while the thermal desorption system allows analysis of trapped volatile and semi-volatile organics and headspace sampling of volatile reaction products. The system is also used for targeted GC/MS metabolomics and organic reaction monitoring by GC/MS.

Features:

• Gerstel MPS Specifications:-1 sampling head, no tool changer-Liquid autosampler (10 µL and 50 µL syringes available)-Headspace autosampler (heated, purged 2.5 mL syringe)-Heated agitator (up to 150 ˚C, up to 750 rpm) for headspace preparation-Can hold 2 rack sample tray with 98 position racks for 1.5 mL vials, 21 position racks for 20 mL vials • Gerstel TDS Specifications:*20 position autosampler thermal desorber-Compatible with Twister SBSE (dimethylsiloxane and ethylene glycol stationary phases)-Can use 6mm x 4mm, 7“ tubes packed with other sorbents (Tenax, Carbotrap, etc.)-Desorber temperature range -50 ˚C – 400 ˚C-Use with CIS-4 for purge and trap sampling*CIS-4 cooled inlet sytem (programmable temperature desorber)-Liquid N2 cooled, low thermal mass -150 ˚C – 450 ˚C (heat up to 12 ˚C/sec)-1.8 mm i.d. liners with variety of packings for purge/trap• 6890 GC Specification:-Split splitless injector (front), Gerstel CIS-4 PTV injector (rear)-Full electronic pressure control, up to 500:1 split ratios-Oven range: ~30 ˚C – 450 ˚C-Usually has 0.25 mm i.d. column installed• 5973 MSD Mass Spectrometer Specifications:-Electron Ionization (EI) 2-800 m/z, positive ions-Unit mass accuracy (± 0.2 Da) and resolution (0.6 Da wide peaks)-Detect C10F8 @ 60:1 signal:noise ratio-Fast scan at up to 8000 amu/sec
